Fishing Trip to South West Rocks

Arrived SWR on thursday nite,had a few home-made beers and cooked ham cappacio omlett for the three of us.Went to bed with massive reflux and the wind was blowing outside aswell.
At 5.30 Friday we hitched the boat up and went down to view the bar (where the Mcleay river enters the sea)....diabolical,the enterance is all silted up and with a NE wind and wrong tide, your goorne(5 boats have gone to their Nemisis in last 6 weeks).
We decamped to Hat Head where there is a cute/tricky break to the sea from a southerly creek,we decided ok and where away....no risk,also no fish,trolled 5 lures for about 5 hours,even went out to the shelf,but still no luck.Cooked a Surf&Turf..fresh sea prawns from the co-op and rump wrapped in capaccio.....tres bon.
Saturday,the bar at SWR was alot better and at 6.30 we crossed it on our way Grassy Head/Scotts Head and close to Nambucca.The weather was perfect and we caught a good feed of Pearl Perch,Snapper,Jackets,Parrot and Flathead.Back home after cleaning up,a shower and a kip we went up to the Country Club and had a few beers,then back home to cook the Pearlies.
We had some small pieces done munier for entre and 3 whole fish wrapped individually and baked on the BBQ...simply magnificent.
Sunday,no live bait fishing!get in early so straight to the grounds where we caught the Pearlies...Yes? like there is not a fish in the ocean so we abandon our plans on bottom thumping and head the live bait grounds but cant get any Slimey Mackeral but only Yakkas,they have to do!
Straight to "the Peak" of the old Trial Bay Gaol and anchor up.The buzz in town yesterday was that the Cobia were on the bite....our final chance to hook up big.Two live Yakka floaters,three live Yakka's on the bottom and plenty of burly(the skipper reckoned there was $25 worth of burly in the bucket).....wait & wait, then one hit but no hook-up...wait&wait, another hit but still no hook-up.
No fish....we have to head home, over the bar safely,bit dissapointed,but had a great three days.

Game Fishing SW-Rocks

Heading of to South West Rocks tomorrow going to chase the palargics, love to hook up on big tuna/spanish(18.5kg my best)/marlin/cobia and a bit of bottom thumping.....the chump side of a tuna on the char grill....wasabe/soy dip....mate it does not get much better (especialy when you have cought it yourself).....maybe pictures?...no not of me ...the big fish

Avian Flu/H5N1

I dont know about anyone else but by the way this virus is spreading through the bird& cat population,it is a big possibility that it could jump to humans.........then the shit hits the fan and complacency goes out the door.
What about a little self insurance?.From what i understand is that the human permuted virus,would become a pandamic throughout the world in a matter of months,for example a virus reported in Honk Kong would arrive in Sydney within 30/90 days,it would then take another say 90 days for the virus to effect 20/40% of the population.
CHAOS.....hospital breakdown,industry shutdown(people sick/affraid to go to work),infrastructure breakdown.....electricity(extended brown-outs),public transport/road system malfuncion,fire brigade,air lines,public service,commerce markets,communication systems(most of computers rely on electricity and the Telco to keep that operative etc,note that most of it depends on copper wire/fibre optics),ports(import/export),sewerage & water(what are you going to do when the sewer backs/packs up)...drinking water,FOOD(wont be anything Woolworths),petrol/diesel supplies,LAW & ORDER.
Me to black!......What happened in New Orleans?.....what if we are talking about a country,the WORLD.
Apparently if you can isolate your-self from the spreading spittle-bourne virus for the most virulent period say 90 days you may have a good chance of not catching it.
SIMPLE INSURANCE;
a.Store as much dried food to feed you/your family for 90 days.(Bi-Lo have 10kg bags rice for $12.50...1 bag per week= 1*12=12bags*$12.50=$150...the essence of staying protected).Canned meats,dried meats(dont rely on the refrigerator),anything that can be rehydrated.Food budgeting would be imperative!
b.Store as much drinking water as possible,fill tubs etc,buy now 20*10 liter bottled water ($5)=$100)
c.Have 2plus 9.5kg gas bottles(depending on family size),for cooking and light(remember very limited electricity...but would hazard a guess that all endeavours would be made to make electricity available on a roster/time basis.3 bottles and attachments cost $250.
d.Store 50/100 liters petrol for travel if possible.Cost say $120.
e.Some form of protection/defence because if others know you have got the above they will want it....and kill for it!!!
f.As much TAMIFLU and/or LARENZA you can get.....this would be pretty dobtfull as governments are stockpiling all production?

I hope i am wrong about the above scenario,but hey for less than $1000 you are pro-active in taking some simple insurance for you and your family.....p.s. if we get it wrong you can still use everything(petrol at $10 liter....you have coverd costs!)

Holy Blood,Holy Grail

Iteresting to see the authors of The Holy Blood and Holy Grail are suing Dan Browns publishers over the Da Vinci Code,saying that they had a conflict of interest over the theme of both books.The authors of HBHG are named Leigh and Baigent,quite interesting that the protagonist in Da Vinci Code is Sir Leigh Teabing.....Teabing being an anagram on Baigent...ps Brown does refer to HBHG in course of writing.
